Baskets
Baskets are interwoven in one color or pattern is quite natural onset. We have baskets of various sizes. These two most common is an oval basket 27x20 cm and a circular with diameter 27 cm, the sizes may vary slightly.
"These baskets are plaited of dried palm leaves and produced by some women's groups in rural areas south of Colombo. The women collect palm leaves, cleaning, soaking and boiling, add them soft and then dry them. Some leaves stained and then dried again. Baskets then interwoven with various patterns and colors. The women are constantly finding the new design and color combinations. No one basket is therefore quite similar to another. " North & South.
